Positioning Orlando United Resiliency Services (OURS) Within The Center

“Here for them, for you, for anyone who needs help. Your healing place and space is OURS.”
The Center Orlando added Orlando United Assistance Center (OUAC) to its family of programs in January 2021 to better serve LGBT+ community and the Orlando community in general as a whole as well as those who were affected by Pulse.
Our doors initially opened to help individuals who were impacted by the devastating loss of 49 lives, as well as the hundreds of victims who were physically or psychologically hurt as a result of the Pulse shootings. That mission is still active and growing.

Orlando United Resiliency Services

OURS is an integral program driving The Center’s misión to promote and empower the LGBT community and its allies through education, advocacy, and support.

Education

OURS informs the public on the reality of long-term recovery and trauma assistance as well as the resources trauma survivors require to develop resilience.

Advocacy

In the city, the county, the state, and all throughout the nation, OURS fights for the needs of our survivors and trauma victims.

Support

With the aim of making them available to everyone who needs them, OURS offers a compassionate community and a variety of programs meant to encourage healing.

As our signature mental health outreach program, the vision of OURS is to open the doors of The Center to LGBT+ individuals and allies who need support and community.

The physical presence of Orlando United Resiliency Services (OURS) within The Center will not only sustain a sense of solid support for Pulse survivors and victims’ families but may also open doors to healing for current or future clients of The Center who have been impacted by trauma (either as a result of the Pulse tragedy or other events).

The OURS program has an open-door policy and its approach is based on a triple commitment that is to support the LGBT+ community, the community in general and those affected by Pulse.

We are experts in trauma recovery and support.

The idea for the OURS program originated from an unimaginable occurrence, we are experts at assisting people and communities in healing, rebuilding, and moving ahead.
We serve “all the letters.”
People of all ages, ethnicities, colors, nations, and gender identities are welcome here.

We provide or connect clients with the help they need. The immediate need that drives someone to our doors frequently reveals other underlying, unfulfilled needs. Our extensive network of links and connections enables clients to solve any problem that leads to struggle and trauma.

We understand that healing is a journey with many side trips, pit stops, and course adjustments rather than an overnight success.
We are a true resilience center, assisting people in recovering and reestablishing themselves after tragedy, trauma, and adversity.

We work with clients to address the ‘pillars’ of resilience.

All the interwoven, fundamental elements, such as: physical security and well-being, emotional balance, mental health and strength, spiritual appreciation, sense of belonging to the community, and loving, supportive relationships.
Orlando residents are experiencing an increase in emotional, physical, and mental health problems at all phases of their lives. These problems are brought on by a variety of factors, such as family stress, societal injustices, violence, and more.
Come to OURS if you are experiencing trauma of any type, no matter who you are. OURS provides information and support to aid you in your healing process if you’re having trouble, especially if it’s because of trauma.
We understand. We’re here for you. We can help.  Our center is YOURS.
We are aware that many others in the Orlando community also desperately require the counseling, support, and connections that we provide to our Pulse clients.
Hear their stories.  Learn about OURS.  Let them know we’re available for them.
